Masako not wanting to waste her friend's time, applied herself and with what they are traught during class in only a few private lessons from Teruko Masako feels more confident.

During the practice, Teruko's gaze was on Masako almost as often as it was on their sensei.

And thanks to Teruko's expert teaching, and Masako's desire to make good at this, the lesson goes well and we’re briefed as to what will happen on the big day.
How we will be taken there, where we will be before, our actual performance and what we are to do after.
Masako is overly humbled by all this and cannot get it out of her mind, she will be in the presence of a Living God.
So once again she voices her concern to her friend, “Teruko…I know I will be tongue tied and faint if He speaks to me. Mother drilled into my mind, His Majesty’s divinity.”

"Is not that the very reason we are so popular, our youth and lack of perfection in our performences. mother always told me this is the best time of my life, as a Maiko, and 1st years are the cutest of all; so never waste this precious time.
"His Majesty is very down to earth, as I hear, so one never knows what or who He may wish to ask questions of. Is this not so Teruko?"

"Perhaps you are right, all that is over kill. Oh my look at the time we must be getting ready for tonight's ozashiki, or at least I do...again thank you so very much for helping me with the dance steps." Masako bows to her friend and scurries off.

In dance class we learn this coming Friday afternoon we will be bused to the palace grounds, in the cherry orchard for the Emperor’s birthday celebration. We also learn Tokyo Geisha, the leading high school band, plus the university of Tokyo marching band will be there.
So teacher tells us, “Remember who you are while there, Tokyo Geisha can spend as little as 6 month before they are given the title Geisha. You bare a proud heritage do not embarrass it, myself, your house, school or god forbid the Gion district.
“Hold your head high, you are the epitome of what it means to be Geisha. All you oneesan control your Maiko, so help me, one of you descries our proud heritage, I personally will whip your ass, you’re not so adult yet I cannot do that!!”
