What a glorious and exciting life this is, no wonder mother never stopped talking of it. I must remember to always study hard, keep my training as hi as possible, be sure and learn all the tricks of keeping men’s attention on me, making sure no matter what, they always remember who they want most at their ozashiki.

I am so pleased Teruha and I have become close friends she is so talented and I learn something new each time we talk, Hanul seems to be in conflict as to what she honestly wants. I must try to impress her with the geisha life and its many rewards. Where else can a young woman learn the talents to be asked for by wealthy and socially prominent men, thereby learning the abilities to converse with them and not become embarrassed because of a lack of education.

It has been so long since I have written my thoughts…I do so love this life, the ozashiki, the clients, the flirting, teasing, tantalizing. Men are such silly children when it comes to us Maiko.
We weave our webs and like senseless prey they fall right into them. I must wonder if all women are aware of their potential to control not only their environment…but those empty headed males near our flame…hmmm, yesssss.

After years of mindlessly submitting to whatever happens to her Masako is going to stand up for herself…OH WOW!!! What a frightening thought.
Before she came to Gion her mother treated her a certain way as instructed by father; teaching her those sensuous Oiran dances, instructing her on how to tantalize men, how I make them feel she is not only submissive to their will, but willing.
The many times father has beat her for not learning quick enough…oh dear, now what will happen once she dares go against his will…no matter; if one cannot be true to themselves how can they be true to others…she them goes the shrine to pray about this.

Well father did take care of me walking out of that class, the teacher was as pleasantly harsh with me as she always is, but with nothing said of me walking out on her.
