Name: Akeme Hamada
Appearance/Picture:
Age: 16
History: Akeme was born in Kyoto, Japan, on October 1, 1992. Her father was a kimono designer, her mother a painter. She had four older sisters and two younger brothers, along with various cousins that stayed with them for months at a time. Nobody really paid any attention to her; she was just the skinny little girl that was always in the way. Once, when she was six years old, she accompanied her father to the Sasaki okiya to deliver a kimono. She fell in love with the flower-and-willow world that day, and becoming a geisha was her dream from then on.
She set her alarm clock for four o'clock every morning, so she could have the computer to herself for an hour. She researched geisha, watched videos of geisha, and drew geisha on Microsoft Paint. She taught herself how to sew and made kimono. She saved up her money and bought every book about geisha she could find. She went with her father every time he had to go to an okiya.
Eventually her father found out about her obsession with geisha, and offered to talk to the leader of the Sasaki okiya about her becoming a geisha. Chiyoko Sasaki agreed to let her live in her okiya.
Akeme was ecstatic. She immediately started packing, even though she wouldn't begin her training until she was fifteen. So her room was filled with boxes for four years, until the day came that she would move to the okiya.
She wasn't that sad about leaving her family; she had never been close to them. She didn't shed a tear, although her mother sobbed every day for a week after she left. But Akeme didn't care, as long as she could become a geisha, everything was okay.
Personality: Akeme can be very rude at times, especially to girls who are prettier than she is. She gets jealous easily, and is very possessive of everything she consider hers, whether it's a pair of shoes or a tree. Since moving into the okiya, people have told her she was beautiful on a daily basis, so she has a rather high opinion of herself. She very rarely gets angry, although when she does she likes to break things and slap people. She prefers to be friends with people less attractive than her because it makes her feel prettier. She gets offended easily, and can hold a grudge for a very long time. She is very good at ignoring people, and can go for weeks at a time without talking to somebody.
Random Facts:
- She loves hermit crabs.
- She wishes she had a chubbier face because she thinks it looks cute.
- She's allergic to tomatoes.
- She has never been to the beach.
- She can text on her phone faster than she can type on the computer.
