Makoto walked around the path in the park, feeling that there was no problem in the world. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom; they were young ladies ready to find their way into womanhood yet there was something holding them back. However, Makoto couldn't actually feel this connection due to him being a, well, man. Whistling, he shoved his hands into his pockets, searching for a bench or something to sit down on.
Finding one, he allowed himself a seat and gazed up into the sky. It was still early morning, and there was nothing wrong with that. A fresh smell of morning dew arose from the air, filling his nostils with a sweet scent of something that smelled like honey. " I hope this morning stays this way."

For some unknown reason Masako woke up early this morning, most likely all the teasing she did last night which yielded little return, so she went out for a walk. Seeing the nice looking boy setting on a bench in the park, she sneaks up behind him and softly says, “It smells so nice right here does it not. The cherry trees, the flowers, nature in all its glory, such a lovely spot.
“I am the infamous Masako, dancer of sensuous Oiran dances, Maiko of the house of Sasaki, and desired by many…possibly you have heard of me...and pray tell handsome stranger, who are you?” Laying it on so thick, she sounded corny to even herself.
“But a boy, a real live, breathing, flesh and blood, boy, right here in gion…thank you my Kami, what a find…WOW!!!” She thinks to herself.

A voice made him jump. Peering behind him there seemed to be another geisha-in-training. Either this maiko was extremely theatrical in the morning or Makoto was just out of it. Raising his eyebrow, he wondered if he should just ignore the girl or not. However, that would have been rude and unlike him to do so. If his sisters would ever act like this, well, they would be slapped by his mother in no time. "Handsome, huh?" There was a slight, monotonous chuckle under his breath. Like he would ever hear that again.
"My name is Nakazawa Makoto. May I ask you, fine maiko, what you call yourself?" Giving a small gentle smile, Makotto turned his face to hers, peering into her eyes. She seemed a bit on the younger side. Then again, here it didn't matter the age of the girl. Sadly, that thought made him sick to his stomach. Shrugging off the thought, Makoto yawned and leaned back, staring at her upside down. " And may I ask you why you are up so early? Most girls like you should be sleeping, am I not right?"

True you are correct,” Masako replied, “My Professional name, Sakura…that which we now smell. Do I detect a feeling of me possibly being too forward, if so kind sir, remember Gion is all but a no man’s land, but for the shop keepers, which you are too young to be one…so since I found you 1st, I stake my claim to you. But 1st you must tell me by what magic do I find you here, now, at this time.
“For I am not where I should be, yet the goddess has smiled upon me, and here you are…a gnome perhaps…a pixie, escaped from middle earth to woo some poor un expecting girl from her home.
“Quick now tell me, before I call for help from one so dashing.” Masako jokingly plays a verbal game with this cute boy, “Come now lad I am relatively harmless, unless one gets too close, for I do bite.”

"My mother is a geisha here, though older than most. More or less, I visit my mother and sisters when I come here. Thus, I have reason to be here, besides those old, dull men." Fiddling with a strang of his hair, Makoto looked out into the distance, thinking. Here he was, alone with a girl. Why was he never in much this luck when he was out of the gion? The gods hated him so. Grumbling, he gave up with fighting with his intermost thoughts on this matter. His face found his way back to the girl; Sakura, the girl, seemed too flirty. Hiding a blush under his face, Makoto shook his head and stayed of a thought that would be to inappropriate.
"Tsk...tsk...tsk... What ever should I do with such a rambuncious girl? Give her slit twack to the behind or several minutes of Chinese water-torture? They both seem good." Makoto luaghed under his breath. Of course, he would do neither of these things as long as he could help it. If Sakura would have been more, for lack of a better word, sexual this morning, he would have ran away to his mother.
"Well, I would like to know why you are here Sakura."
[Gah. Brain fart.]

“HIS MOTHER IS A GEISHA…OH MY GOD, I MAY HAVE REALLY SCREWED UP HERE.” Masako thinks to herself. Then replies to the boy, as she graciously bows, “Please kind sir, disregard my silliness. I know I came on strong but actually I am far too young to be so outrageous as all that,”
Now scared his mother may be one of her teachers…”Oh, god not the Shamisen instructor. I know he will tell on me,” Mustering her thoughts, she then asks, “May I know your mother and sister’s names, and their houses, possibly I know them?”
Knowing she is blushing terribly, and no make up to hid it. “I will die if he says anything about my embarrassment.” The thought raises though her mind.
“OH, why am I here, I saw you and wanted very much to talk to you and possibly become friends.” Masako could not have said anything so dumb as that, “He will now think me a total wacko.
“You silly, childish flirt.” She thinks…as she wishes he was brave enough to kiss her, just abruptly kiss her lips.
“Possibly if I act more intimidated by his presence he will realize I was only showing off, and I’m actually a coward underneath. But do I know how…mother never taught me how to be submissive, only almost overtly aggressive. How else can a Maiko secure patrons.
“Masako you should have stayed in bed rather than think you can interplay with others outside an ozashiki.”
Then suddenly realizing she is not sure she thought all these thoughts or voiced them, she stands seemingly nailed to the walkway under her, embarrassed and frightened of what his next words will be.

Teruko dressed that morning in a dark red floral komon (everyday kimono) matched with a tan-green bamboo obi. into her hair went only a plain comb and a large red rose kanzashi. She decided to walk through Akita Park, hoping that the chilly winter air would be invigorating. There she saw Masako-chan talking with a young man. She approached, listening for any clues that this was a private rendezvous, but hearing nothing of that sort other than Masako's usual flirting, she introduced herself. "Ohayougozaimasu. I see you've met Masako-chan. I'm her friend Teruko, also known as Teruha. What brings you both here this morning? Out for a walk in the bracing winter air like me?" her komon: www.ichiroya.com/item/list2/155248/her obi: www.ichiroya.com/item/list2/153593/

Happy to see Teruko, Masako quickly replies, “Teruko, this is Makoto, whose mother and sisters are here in Gion, I had just asked what house, possibly we know them…Makoto, the best friend any one can ask for, Teruko of the house Mizuno…Is he not cute Teruko?” Masako teasingly says, looking at Makoto…kind of hoping for some sign he thinks she is cute too.

"Oh, must you put me on the spot?" Teruko took out her fan and started fanning herself, hiding her face behind her fan.

Quickly realizing what she did, Masako tries to cover her carelessness, "OH!!!, Teruko not in that way, just that he's a boy, how many do we see here in Gion, this land of women only, or so it seems.
"Surely my calling you the best friend any one can have does not embarrass you, I pray not, for it is so.
“Makoto it truly is so, if every one had a friend as helpful as Teruko, their life would be so much easier.”

"You're so sweet, Masako!" Teruko turned back to Makoto. "So, your family lives here in the hanamachi? Do you think you'll stay on here as a dresser or move away for some other type of profession?"

Feeling like he was completely clueless for the last few moments, Makoto looked around and saw another girl in his little bubble of air. He seemed to be so popular today and thankfully it was not in a bad way. Standing up, Makoto bowed slightly to the girl that was named Teruko. It was good to be formal here, though it was just a park.
The girls had been talking while he was out of it. Nervously smiling, he tried to remember something that he was a few minutes ago. Teruko seemed to ask him what his profession would be and something about his family. Did it really matter? Considering the place where he was, yes it did. "Well, most of my family lives her. My father is a business man, so he's usually somewhere around the world right about now. As for me, I am currently attending a university." He paused and sighed. " As far as I know, I'll probably work somewhere else than the hanamachi. Like Sakura may have informed you, I usually come to visit my twin sisters and mother. And...well...my university isn't that far from here."

"Oh my, college good for you, what are you studying to be, if I may ask?"

[Urmm...I don't know?]
Scratching his head, he looked at Sakura. Blinking his eyes once, then twice, Makoto was about to fall over at her question. That college was something he did not want to talk about right now. Either he would have to shove the question away or bluntly answer it. "Well, it's that big one...to the south...you know...that one. Sorry, I seem to have forgotten the name somewhat." Nervously laughing, he had no idea if that was a good answer or not.

"The poor fellow seems overwealmed! Enough to forget the name of his own college." Teruko gestured toward her friend. "Maybe we should back off and return you to your thoughts."
